Loreto P. Castillo

   A Catholic Funeral Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated for Loreto P. (Whistle) Castillo age 96 of
Lamesa, TX. at 2:00 p.m., on Friday, January 31, 2025, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church with Father Sylvester Dsouz officiating. The burial committal will follow to the Dawson County Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the trusted care and direction of Gonzales
Funeral Home.
    The viewing will be held at Gonzales Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until
9:00 p.m., and Thursday, January 30, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. with Rosary prayer services at
7:00 p.m. on both nights at Gonzales Funeral Home Chapel.
    Loreto passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, January 27, 2025, in Lamesa,
TX. He was born on March 25, 1928, in Martindale, TX. Loreto married Maria Rodriguez on July 24, 1944, in
Lamesa, TX. 
    Loreto was preceded in death by his wife, Maria Rodriguez Castillo; parents, Refugio and Hilaria Castillo; son, Pedro Castillo and his daughter-in-law, Gloria Castillo; daughter, Emily Sanderson; sons-in-law, Fidel Castilla and Chris Rodriguez; brothers, Francisco Castillo, Sr., Marcelino Castillo, Gavino Castillo, and Antonio Castillo; sisters, Emilia Castillo, Agapita Arredondo, Maria Armendariz, Guadalupe Montemayor, Antonia Castillo and Carolina Vasquez.
    Loreto worked in farming and later was employed for the Lamesa Cotton Oil Mill from 1972 until retirement. He was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church.
    Loreto is survived by his sons, Federico Castillo and his daughter-in-law Josie Castillo of Von Ormy, TX., and Juan Castillo and his daughter-in-law Porfiria Castillo of Lamesa, TX.; his daughters, Esperanza Rodriguez of Lamesa, TX., Hilaria Castilla of Lamesa, TX., and Refugia Castillo of San Angelo, TX; two sisters San Juana Castillo and Beatrice Hernandez; 15 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren; numerous relatives and friends.
