Lola Griffin Bufkin Canney

Lola Griffin Bufkin Canney was born on July 28, 1937 in Foreman, Arkansas to William Thomas and Martha Ann (Sanders) Griffin. She grew up in a large family and worked in the fields from an early age.
Faith was a big part of her life as her family attended the Church of Christ in Lamesa where she was baptized.  One of her early jobs was working in a clothing store where she picked up the “hobby” of shopping.  She always had to look her best and made sure her nails were done, hair was colored and styled, and that she had the handbag to match.  Lola also kept up with the famous designers and what was new and fashionable.
She also owned and operated her own home cleaning business.  She enjoyed her time traveling around Texas and to visit family in Mississippi and Arkansas.  Lola cherished the time she could spend with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Lola passed away the afternoon of Monday, March 7, 2022 in Austin.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William & Martha Griffin; her first husband, L.S. Bufkin; husband of over 30 years, Barry Handlin; son-in-law, Gary Minyard; two sisters, Betty & Everett Singleton and Martha “Mickey” & Phillip Paul; brother, Billy Griffin, and two brothers-in-law, John Bolton and Leslie Cowart.
Lola is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Minyard of Bowie; son, Ronald & Susan Bufkin of Odessa; three grandchildren, Randy Bufkin of Odessa, Ryan Bufkin of Odessa, and Kyle & Jayla Minyard of Bowie; two great grandchildren, Miranda Bufkin of Odessa and Garyson Minyard of Bowie; one brother, Larry & Kathy Griffin of Giddings; two sisters, Dorothy Bolton of Lamesa and Shirley Cowart of Amarillo, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
Keeping with Lola’s wishes, funeral services will not be held.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
Arrangements by Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings.
