Linda passed away peacefully at her home in Lamesa, TX. on Saturday, February 1, 2025, and was surrounded by her 3 children. She was born on April 17, 1958, in Lamesa, TX. Linda married her best friend Jesus “Tony” Ramos after high school in August 1974. They had 3 children, sons, Jessie Ramos, Gabriel Ramos, and daughter, Monica Ramos.
Linda was known for her beautiful selfless character. She loved to volunteer at the Lamesa Early Headstart from 2011 to 2012, and the time she worked as the manager of the Dollar General Store. She was a Greenbay Packers fan and any whom came over to her home knew how to joke lightly or else. Her husband, kids, and grandkids loved letting her know or giving her a little hard time when they’d lose. From 2011 to 2014 you would catch her at every basketball, softball, and local sporting games rooting on her grand-daughter and teammates. They knew when Mamaw was in the stands because she was the loudest when winning and when yelling at the refs or umps. She continued after class of 2014 attending and supporting GT. Linda enjoyed going to Bingo with her best friend and sisters, which became a tradition they each made for their birthdays. If not a Bingo then she would be
surrounded with family at kitchen table having her cold ones and playing Spanish Bingo or cares, especially during the holidays. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. If you grew up with her children or grand babies, then you became her baby as well as her big heart. She was always loving and ready to give her wisdom if you needed. A Mamaw that
went above and beyond without question. Truly an angel on earth. She and Tony always made certain that their unconditional love was felt. In 2003, Linda was faced with a fight against breast cancer that she won. After 20 years she was faced with another fight and won again. November 2024 brought her another fight that unfortunately could not be won, but she faced it head on with her courageous heart and faith, with her army with her till the very end. To say last, Linda was a strong woman, tough as nails. You would never know her to show when weak because she tackled her battles with a smile.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Rosa Cortez; sister Maggie Cortez; little brother Joe Cortez, Jr.; great-grandson Alston Jae Thomas; and the love of her life her husband, Jesus (Tony) Ramos whom as her great-grandson Kyle stated “brought his granny her beautiful wings to go with Jesus.
Linda is survived by her sons, Jessie Ramos (Yolanda) of Greeley, CO., and Gabriel Ramos (Elizabeth) of Wichita, Kansas; her daughter, Monica Ramos of Greeley, CO.; her grandchildren, Kas Ramos of Lamesa, TX., Jared Ramos of Greeley, CO., Mia Paredez of Greeley, CO., Drakelin Rosas of Greeley, CO., Marcus Ramos of Greeley, CO., Ronnie, Julie, Katie of Wichita, Kansas; great-grandchildren, Kyle Ramos, Kaiden “Bubbis” Ramos, Aaron Chapa, all of Lamesa, TX., Savanah, Louie, Noah, Jacob, Caleb, Rason, and Bella Rodrguez of Wichita, Kansas; sisters, Janie Flores, and Martha Hernandez, both of Lamesa, TX., and Celilia Castellon of Yakima, WA.; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, great nieces and nephews and friends.
