Kenneth Winford

    Funeral service for Kenneth Wayne Winford, 86, of Lamesa will be held Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Second Baptist Church with Dr. Chris Winford officiating and Pastor Tobey Clement assisting. 
    Interment will follow at Dawson County Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Branon Funeral Home. 
    Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 5, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Branon Funeral Home.
    Kenneth passed away Saturday, July 2, 2022, in Lamesa, Texas.  
    He was born September 25, 1935, in Lamesa, Texas to Harry and Thoma (Denton) Winford. On July 23,1958, he enlisted in the United States Army in Abilene, TX.  He served in boot camp and AIT at Ft. Carson, Colorado. He was honorably discharged in Ft. Lewis, Washington on July 23, 1960, as SP4 rank. Kenneth also served in the National Guard for 10 years.  He married Betty Sue Crutcher on October 7, 1971, in Lamesa, Texas.  They were married for 50 years. 
    He spent most of his life truck driving. He drove for Montgomery Wards and retired from Britt Trucking.  He also owned K&B Diamond Shamrock. Kenneth worked for Second Baptist Church for many years. In 2019, he and his son, Mark went with the Permian Basin Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. where they toured all the monuments.
    Kenneth is survived by his wife, Betty Sue Winford of Lamesa; children, Pat Richards and husband, Bill of Lubbock, Mark Winford and wife, Kim of Flint, Texas and Cassy Wilkerson and husband, Delbert of Lamesa; grandchildren, Amber and Chris Beaty of Odessa, Texas, Jason and Tina Gary of Benicia California, Meggan and Brian Fitzpatrick of Prosper, Texas, Zack Wilkerson of Frisco, Texas, Kacy and John Young of Tatum, Texas, Addie Winford of Valladolid, Spain, Aleesha Winford and fiancé, Kris Zissa of Brenham, Texas and Amanda Winford of Denton, Texas; seven great grandchildren; sister, Sandra Parrot of Lubbock; and brothers, Jimmy Winford and wife, Sue and Richard Winford and wife, Vicki, all of Lamesa.
    Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents; Bea Shipley Winford; sisters, Estelle Hancock, LaVern Hensler, Ann Tutle and Lou Cherry.
