Jovita Samora

    Graveside funeral services for Jovita Samora, age 90, of Lamesa, TX. will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at the Dawson County Cemetery with Trinidad Sanchez officiating.  
    Due to the Covid-19 area situations we continue with public safety, and for the safety of the family and our community, face masks and social distancing are required at the funeral home and cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home.
    Viewing and visitation to be held on Thursday, February 4, 2021 and Friday, February 5, 2021 at Gonzales Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Trinidad Sanchez, via ZOOM, at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday will present a Funeral Conversation to the family, and on Friday at 7:00 p.m., Diana Ortiz will present an Inspirational service.  
    Jovita passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 in Lamesa. 
    She was born on February 15, 1930 in Giddings, TX. Jovita married Frank Samora on April 4, 1949 in Franklin, TX.
    Jovita  was preceded in death by husband, Frank Samora; her son, San Pio Samora; her daughter, Maria S. Pesina; her grandson, Santos Pesina; and her son-in-law, Tom Kennedy.
    Jovita was a very hard-working lady. She loved to cook and bake for her family. She enjoyed her family gatherings and get-togethers. Jovita loved reading her Bible, and had great faith. She loved to sew too.
    Jovita is survived by children, her son, Lupe Samora and wife, Maria of Lubbock, TX.; her daughters, Luisa Rivas and husband, Gil, Martina Samora and Charlie Pesina, Dolores Hernandez and husband, David, all of Lamesa, TX., and Brigida Kennedy of Bethany, OK.; her son-in-law, Jose Pesina of Lubbock, TX.; 27 grandchildren, 93 treat-grandchildren, and 78 great-great-grandchildren; numerous relatives and friends.
    Pallbearers, Raymond Rivas, Renee Samora,  Sue Ann Hernandez, Orlando Tello, Mark Anthony Rodriguez, Matthew Flores, Kevon Casarez, Norma Guerrero, Victor Samora.
