Joseph Lane  Caskey

Jan. 20, 1964 - Aug. 9, 2023

It is with broken hearts that we announce an unwelcome journey of a life cut short.  On August 9, 2023, Joseph Lane Caskey’s physical journey ended, his spiritual journey began.
Born on January 20, 1964, in Lamesa, TX, Lane was the fifth child of Barbara & Hermon Caskey. Being one of “the infamous Caskey boys,” Lane made his debut in Lamesa with his four other siblings anxiously peering through the maternity ward window at the Lamesa hospital.  This curly haired cutie was a delightful addition to the Caskey clan and he quickly learned to fall in step behind the leadership of his three older brothers. As a toddler, Mom found him atop the storage building in the backyard.  This was only the beginning of many escapades throughout the childhood, adolescence and adulthood of this fun loving man.
A 1982 graduate of Lamesa High School, Lane completed his post-secondary education at Angelo State University in 1987. His 33 year career was spent as a Workers’ Compensation Claims Management Specialist for Texas Municipal League in Austin, TX.              Lane and Marty raised their three boys in Georgetown, TX, where Lane was a golf enthusiast. He was devoted to his boys’ well being, was actively involved in their academic development and proud of their accomplishments. Christmases spent skiing in New Mexico became a family tradition. His fatherhood and family life were Lane’s most treasured assets.
Lane was preceded in death by his father, John Hermon Caskey.  Survivors include sons Kyle, Cory & David Caskey of Georgetown; mother Barbara Caskey of San Angelo; siblings Pam Harper and husband Joe of Midland; Steve Caskey of Big Spring; William Caskey and wife Janet of San Angelo; Jim Caskey and wife Stacee of Sherman; Marty Caskey of Georgetown. At the risk of forgetting to name all of the people precious to us in this journey, other survivors grieving his passing include many in-laws, nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family and so many special friends.
The entire family appreciates the outpouring of love during this difficult time.  Arrangements are being provided by the Ramsey Funeral Home of Georgetown, TX.
