John Elmo  Thomas Jr.

    John Elmo Thomas Jr., a cherished resident of Lamesa, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at the age of 72. He was born on January 18, 1951, in Lamesa to the loving parents, John Elmo Thomas Sr. and Margaret Almeta Williams Thomas. John spent the majority of his life in Lamesa, where his vibrant spirit and remarkable skills touched the lives of many.
    A skilled freelance diesel mechanic, John possessed an exceptional talent for working on a diverse range of engines. His abilities extended far beyond mechanics, as he was known as a gifted and resourceful handyman. His interests were as diverse as his skills, including a passion for drag racing, pecan farming, photography, and the serenity of the outdoors. 
    Beyond his professional and personal interests, John’s legacy was profoundly marked by his roles as a loving father, brother, and friend to numerous individuals. His warm and caring nature left an indelible mark on the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known him.
    John is survived by his daughters, Jessi Thomas, and Chelsi Johnson, along with Chelsi’s husband, Brennan. His memory will continue to live on through his beloved grandchildren, Nash Thomas, and Drew Johnson. He is also survived by his sisters, Patricia Seal and her husband, Bobby, and Wanda Wright, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members. John was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Kelly Peugh.
