John “Jack” Stafford Obituary

John “Jack” Wesley Stafford, 60, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away on May 17, 2024. Jack was born on March 6, 1964, to Noble Gene and Barbara Stafford in Lamesa, Texas. From a young age, Jack exhibited an exceptional work ethic and a natural talent for farming. At just 8 years old, he began driving tractors on his family farm, dedicating all his spare time to working the land, one of his greatest passions.
In 1998, Jack met Ann in Lubbock, Texas. Their love story began with an elopement to Las Vegas on September 9, 1999, marking the start of their great adventure together. Alongside his work on the family farm in Lamesa, Jack owned and operated A & J Red Wagon Trailer and Container Inc. Truly a “Jack of all trades,” there was nothing he couldn’t fix or create with his
hands.
Jack was an incredibly gifted farmer and a remarkably hard worker. He was known for his integrity; when he made a promise, a handshake sealed it. Jack loved hunting, working with his hands, and creating things. He cherished his children and stepchildren, always ready for a great laugh and eager to share his love for history and learning about the past. Jack was a dedicated supporter of the Red Raiders, cheering them on even when they broke his heart.
Jack and Ann were inseparable for over 25 years, building a life filled with love, adventure, and cherished memories. Jack also enjoyed spending time with special friends at their lake house, where many joyous moments were shared, as well as traveling and exploring with his dog, Coco, in their RV.
Jack was predeceased by his parents, Noble Gene and Barbara Stafford. He is survived by his loving wife, Ann; his children, Erika Griffith and Jake Stafford (and his wife Jessie); and his stepdaughters, Krista Singleton (and her husband Cody) and Kari Davis (and her husband Will). He was a proud grandfather to Jase Dawson Stafford, Elia Davis, Hannah Davis, Saylor
Singleton, Sarah Grace Davis, and Silas Singleton. Jack is also survived by his brother, Clinton Stafford, and his sister, K.C. Stafford.
Services will be held at Sanders Funeral Home in Lubbock on Wednesday, May 29th at 9:30 AM, with graveside services immediately following in Lamesa, Texas. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 28th, at Sanders Funeral Home from 5:30-7:00 pm.
Jack's legacy of hard work, love, and dedication will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. He had a strong faith in Jesus, and we find comfort in knowing that, as a lifelong farmer, he is now reaping the eternal rewards of Heaven.
