Jean Peacock

Doris Jean Peacock, 83, of Ackerly, TX died peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on August 7, 2021 at Parkview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Big Spring, TX.
Visitation will be held at Kiker-Seale Funeral Home in Colorado City, Texas on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 from 10 a.m until 12 p.m. Graveside service will be held following the visitation at the Aspermont Cemetery in Aspermont, Texas at 3 p.m.
Jean was born in Franklin, TX to James Cornelius Miles and Lemma Ray Bruce Miles. She married her sweetheart Shirley Ray Peacock on January 2, 1954 at Pinkerton Baptist Church in Rule, Texas.
Jean has blessed her family and community with her servant’s heart. When she wasn’t busy making desserts for the hospitality room for the staff at Sands, she could be found making homemade ice cream for the students. Rumor has it that she made the best chocolate pie in West Texas. Outsiders rarely had the chance to try a slice because her children made sure to lick the plate clean before anyone else had a chance.
She spent many hours talking to old friends and making new ones on Facebook. She enjoyed learning about everyone’s families and sharing about hers with daily updates to her online followers.
Jean loved to watch all of her grandchildren compete, and wouldn’t hesitate to brag on them in any way she could and to anyone who would listen. You couldn’t go to the Mustang gym, football field, or even auditorium without finding Mrs. Peacock.
Jean is proceeded in death by her husband Ray of 51 years, her brother, Milton “Buddy” Bruce Miles, and her son, Ronnie Jay Peacock.
Jean is survived by her sister, Barbara Garrett of Tulia, Texas, her remaining six children: Dewey Peacock and his spouse Sherri Peacock of Burnet, Texas, Jerria Peacock of Ackerly, Texas, Sammy Peacock of Ackerly, Texas, Wesley Peacock of Ackerly, Texas, Kathy Monteleone and her spouse Rick Monteleone of Graham, Texas, and Shelley Peacock of Ackerly, Texas,  her 17 grandchildren: Dr. Collin Peacock and his spouse Alejandra Peacock of Bastrop, Texas, Cody Peacock of Arlington, Texas, Jessica Wigington and her spouse Michael Wigington of Ackerly, Texas, Samantha Peacock of Lubbock, Texas, Ronnie Peacock of Big Spring, Texas, Rene Acevedo and his spouse Kacey Acevedo of Lubbock, Texas, Edward Acevedo of Lubbock, Texas, Sherrie Acevedo of Big Spring, Texas, Shaunessy Sharp and her spouse Evan Sharp of Midland, Texas, Jessica Willard and her spouse Wesley Willard of Spring Branch, Texas,  Kenneth Peacock of Big Spring, Texas, Kendra Hawkins of Big Spring, Texas, Kayla Brownfield of Big Spring, Texas, Kyle Brownfield of Big Spring, Texas, Ashli Irwin and her spouse John Irwin of Big Spring, Texas, Ryan Stockton of Ackerly, Texas, and Riley Webb of Ackerly, Texas.
Jean is also survived by her 22 great grandchildren.
Jean loved to read, it was rare to see her without a book in her hand. She read in the car, in bed before she went to sleep, on the porch, to her grandchildren, almost all of her free time was spent with her nose in a book. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests monetary donations be made in Jean’s name to the Dawson County Public Library.
