Jack Prather

    Jack Odell Prather was born December 24, 1932 in Dawson County, just north of Lamesa, Texas to Lewis and Effie Prather.
    He passed from this life on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 in Lubbock. Jack graduated from Lamesa High School and Abilene Christian University.
    Jack worked at Lamesa Meat Company and Northridge Retirement Center until his retirement in 2001. After his retirement, he and Leslie spent several years exploring the United States in their trailer. He loved fishing, sitting around the campfire, and simply enjoying nature.
    Jack is preceded in death by his parents Lewis and Effie Prather; sisters Verla Strickland and Lavelle Bronniman; brother Orville Prather, and granddaughter Amanda Prather. 
    He is survived by his wife Leslie Prather, sons Jeff Prather and wife Kathy of Lubbock, Texas; Mike Prather and wife Gina of Bovina, Texas; son Neil Prather and wife Kristin of Longmont, Colorado; and his seven grandchildren Page and husband Chris, Leslie Ann and husband Brady, Johnna, Taylor, Dakota, Nelson, Sadie and husband Brock, and his great-granddaughter Corina. 
    A Celebration of life will be held on April 15th at 11:00 at Sunset Church of Christ in Lubbock.
