Helen “Dolores” Alexander McCabe Seal,

Helen “Dolores” Alexander McCabe Seal, 93, of Robert Lee, Texas, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on January 16, 2025, at the Robert Lee Care Center. Dolores was born on June 6, 1931, to Odie Polk Alexander and Edna Pearl Gaines Alexander in Lamesa, Texas. She grew up in Dawson County alongside her younger brother, Odie Eugene “Gene” and her baby sister, Martha Pearl “Mert”. The family moved to Carlsbad in 1944, and Dolores graduated Salutatorian from Water Valley High School in 1948 at the age of 16 years.
While in school, Dolores met Fred Henry “Twister” McCabe, Jr., and the two were united in marriage on November 30, 1950. Their love story took them across the country, as Fred was drafted into the Army. They moved to Aberdeen, Maryland, where Fred was stationed. Dolores returned home to Coke County when Fred was called to serve in Korea. She dedicated herself to being a devoted wife, homemaker and mother to their three children: Roy Doyle, Melvin Henry, and Mindi Helen.
Dolores was a loving and devoted wife, always supporting her family and her community. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, crocheting, and playing bridge with friends. Anyone who crossed the threshold of their home had to sign the guest book and get a crocheted cross. She was awarded the Outstanding  Conservation Homemaker of the Year by the State of Texas in 1964 and 1967.  Dolores and Fred were third generation farmers and ranchers in Coke County and were active and faithful members of the Robert Lee Baptist Church. They shared a life full of love and mutual support, attending football and basketball games, extracurricular activities, and cherishing their time raising their children. Their marriage of 45 years ended with Fred’s passing in October 1995.
On January 29, 2001, Dolores married Rachel “Ray” Seal, and together they enjoyed time spent with family until his passing in 2017.
Dolores was a woman who spoke her mind and wasn’t afraid to tell it like it was. She was respected for her honesty, integrity, and unwavering commitment to her family and beliefs. She had a sharp wit and a great sense of humor, often lightening the mood with her clever remarks. She lived life with a strong sense of self and a deep love for her family.
Dolores is survived by her two children, Melvin (Debbie) McCabe of Robert Lee and Mindi Helen McCabe Drennan of Welch; her sister, Martha Pearl (Bill) Cowart; and her four grandchildren: Andrew (Brandi) McCabe, Trenton (Clara) McCabe, Brittni Helen (Jason) Bates, and Carson (Bailey) Drennan. She was also blessed with nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Fred McCabe Jr. in 1995, her son Roy Doyle McCabe in 1972, her mother-in-law, Leora “Mombo” Brown McCabe in 1987, her father-in-law, Fred Henry “Grande” McCabe in 1991, her son-in-law Grant Drennan in 2006, her husband Ray Seal in 2017, and her brother Gene in 2024.
Visitation is scheduled for Sunday January 19, 2025, 4:00-6:00 at the Robert Lee Baptist Church.  Services will be held to celebrate Dolores’ life and legacy on January 20, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the Robert Lee Baptist Church.  Burial immediately following at the Robert Lee Cemetery.
