Graveside funeral services for Guadalupe (Lupe) Rivera Rodriguez age 97 of Lamesa, TX., will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 9, 2020, at the Dawson County Cemetery, with Pastor Robert Davis officiating.
Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home. Face masks are required at the funeral home and cemetery. Due to the current area Covid-19 situation we continue to practice public safety measures.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 9, 2020, from 9:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Gonzales Funeral Home.
Guadalupe was called home by her loving God, on Friday, December 4, 2020 in Lamesa, TX.
She was born on April 4, 1923 in San Marcos, TX. Guadalupe married Julian Rodriguez on January 10, 1948 in Lamesa, TX.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Julian Rodriguez; her father, Jose Rivera; her mother, Guadalupe Capetillo; her step-mother, Elvira Rivera; her brothers, Alfredo Rivera, Alberto Rivera, Ruben Rivera; her sisters, Lucia Moreno, Josefina Lopez, Margaret Perez, Elvira Galindo, Carolina Vasquez.
Guadalupe was a devout Christian woman. Her faith was deeply rooted and unwavering. She was a lifetime member of Primera Baptist Church in Lamesa, Texas, where she loved her church members. “Abuela” loved her family immensely and enjoyed spending time with them. In her free time, she enjoyed sewing and crocheting, especially for her children and grandchildren.
Guadalupe is survived by her son, Delbert Rodriguez of Lamesa, TX.; her grandson, Isaac Rodriguez and spouse, Annie Rodriguez of Lubbock, TX.; her granddaughter, Sonia Cantu and spouse, Jesse Cantu of Lubbock, TX.; her great-grandson, Joaquin Cantu, and great-granddaughter, Jemma Rodriguez, both of Lubbock, TX.; her brother, Juan Rivera of Lamesa, TX.; her sisters, Eloisa Perez, Maria Perez, and Beatrice Garza, all of Lamesa, TX.; several relatives, and friends.
