Guadalupe Rivas

    A Catholic funeral mass of Christian burial will be celebrated for Guadalupe Rivas, age 61, of O’Donnell, TX., at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 7, 2023, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church with celebrant Deacon Simon Resendez officiating. 
    Burial committal will follow to the Dawson County Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home. 
    Viewing and visitation will be held on Friday, January 6, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. with Rosary prayer service starting at 7:00 p.m. at Gonzales Funeral Home Chapel.
    Guadalupe passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 in Tahoka, TX. 
    He was born on August 22, 1961 in Karnes City, TX. Guadalupe married Guadalupe Flores on August 24, 1996, in Lamesa, TX. at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church.
    He is preceded in death by his parents, Saragosa Rivas and Esperanza Rivas; his brothers, Bernabe Rivas, and Richard Rivas; his sister, Sylvia Ochoa; and his brother-in-law, Felix Salas.
    Guadalupe was a man of few words with a big smile on his face! He worked for the City of O’Donnell, TX. for fourteen years. He dedicated his life to make others happy! He always cheered loudly for the Washington Redskins/Commanders, especially against the Cowboys!
    Guadalupe is survived by his wife, Guadalupe Flores Rivas of O’Donnell, TX.; his sons, Adam Ray Ybarra of Big Spring, TX., Michael Gregory Rivas and Adrian (A.J.) Rivas, both of O’Donnell, TX.; his sisters, Juana Salas of Brownfield, TX., Rosa Rivas of Lamesa, TX.; his brothers, Saragosa (Nuno) Rivas, Jr. and Rita of Levelland, TX., Encarnacion (Chon) Rivas and Nancy of Brownfield, TX., Samuel (Sammy) Rivas of Brownfield, TX., Robert Rivas and Barbara of Brownfield, TX., Roy Rivas and Elsie of Morton, TX., Jesse Rivas and Lisa of Venue, TX., Raymond Rivas and Priscilla of Whiteface, TX.,  Rene Rivas and Cassie of Venus, TX., and Juan Rivas of Lewisville, TX.; his grandchildren, Nickolaus Garcia (Hannah), and Marcos Garcia (Destiny); 2 great-grandchildren; several relatives and friends.
