Gerald Riggan

    Funeral service for Gerald Riggan, 91, of Lamesa, will be held Wednesday, 2:00 p.m. at Branon Funeral Home Chapel with Matt Robinson, his son-in-law, officiating. Interment will follow at Dawson County Cemetery. 
    Arrangements are under the direction of Branon Funeral Home and visitation will be held there on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Social distancing is suggested. Masks are perfectly acceptable, but not required.
    Gerald passed away on Saturday, January 8, 2022 in Lamesa. 
    He was born May 4, 1930 in Big Spring, Texas, to Martin Gold and Ruth (McNatt) Riggan. He graduated from Lamesa High School.
    He married Lucille Hogg on July 1, 1955 in Lamesa, Texas. They were married 66 years. He served in the U.S. Navy and later returned to farming. Gerald owned, operated or rented farmland during his life in Andrews, Gaines, Dawson, Hockley, Yoakum, Bailey, Lamb, Borden and Hale Counties. He spent a considerable amount of time as a truck driver, and later in life, took pride in being an investor.
    He loved to visit coffee shops with anyone who would sit with him. He loved playing dominoes and 42. Years after he retired from farming, he bought properties in and around Cloudcroft, New Mexico, and he and Lucille spent several years as “part-timers” in the mountains. 
    Gerald is survived by his wife; his children, Clovia Talley, of Plainview, Texas, Jerry Riggan and wife, Gina of Lubbock, Texas, Christy Robinson and husband, Matt of Lubbock, Texas, and Nat Riggan of Lamesa, Texas; seven grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren. 
    He is preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Homer (as a young boy), and Harold Riggan; as well as son-in-law, Mike Talley.
    The family suggests memorials to the Children’s Home of Lubbock, 4404 Idalou Rd, Lubbock, TX 79403.
