George H. Kirkland

    Funeral service for George H. Kirkland, 81, of Abilene formerly of Lamesa will be held Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Branon Funeral Home Chapel with Kevin Kirkland officiating. 
    Arrangements are under the direction of Branon Funeral Home.
    George passed away Sunday, November 27, 2022, in Abilene surrounded by his family. 
    He was born February 15, 1941, in DeKalb, TX to George W. and Doris (Phillips) Kirkland. George married Laverda Teal August 25, 1961, in Lamesa, Texas. They were married 61 years. His hobbies included fishing, golfing, barbecuing, and listening to music. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Lamesa.
    George is survived by his wife, Laverda Kirkland; children, Mike Kirkland and wife, Rita of Burnet, Clint Kirkland and wife, Kristen of Lubbock; mother, Doris Kirkland of Breckenridge; sister, Betty Branham of Lamesa; brothers, Sam Kirkland and wife, Carolyn of Lubbock, and Bruce Kirkland and wife, D’Lynn of Lamesa; grandchildren, Zach, Nathan, Aeryk, Tori, Riley, Cheyanne, Keegan, James, Tenlee; great grandchildren, Taigyn, Berkley, Kohen, Landon, and Olivia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
    He is preceded in death by his father, George W. Kirkland; son, Charles Kirkland in 1992; brother, David Kirkland; granddaughter, Sarah Lynn Kirkland; and brother-in-law, Clay Branham.
