Frankie Merrick

    Frankie Singleton Merrick passed to her heavenly home on Saturday, September 26th, 2020 in Lamesa, TX.
    Frankie was born on May 19th, 1933 in Martin County to John Raymond Singleton and Vada Rosa Douglas Singleton. She graduated from Klondike High School where she lettered four years in basketball, and was team captain for three years. She was also voted Most Athletic for three years in a row. 
    She married Dale Richard Merrick on December 30th, 1952 at Roberts Chapel in Lamesa.  She and Dale were involved in music throughout their marriage, playing all over West Texas and Eastern New Mexico, providing entertainment for nursing homes and car shows. They played with good friends through the years, and were known as Texas Brass and Strings. 
    Frankie worked for TXU for several years, served as president of the women’s committee of Dawson County Farm Bureau for two years, and was a member of the Pythian Sisters, serving on numerous committees. She was also an election judge for many years. 
    She is survived by Dale, her husband of 67 years; her brothers, C.B. Singleton of Patricia, Lindell Singleton of Lamesa; and a host of nieces and nephews. 
    She is preceded in death by her parents, and her brothers, Noel, Virgil, John and Chubby.  
    Graveside service will be held Saturday, October 10, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Dawson County Cemetery with Kendall Meek officiating.  Arrangements are under the direction of Branon Funeral Home.  Social distancing and face masks are required at the service.
