Mrs. Felicia “Meemaw” Landin, daughter of the late Felix and Juanita Salazar, was born May 2, 1945 in Lamesa, Texas. Shortly after birth, she was baptized into the Catholic faith, where she became a dedicated member of St Margret Mary’s. She served her congregation in many capacities: teaching Catechism, serving as a eucharistic minister, and volunteering as a church custodian.
She was united in holy matrimony to Benny Landin, Sr. in May of 1961. This union was blessed with five children—all boys. Felicia worked in the Klondike High School cafeteria, before partnering with her husband to work side-by-side as the school’s custodians. She was n active in the lives of her sons, cheering them on throughout their boyhood exploits in football, basketball, and on the track field at Klondike High School. Her burritos were a favorite at the concession stand.
After many years of empathetic and compassionate service to the many who knew her, with her sisters—the strawberry ones in the long skinny glasses made her laugh out loud. They also took in a George Strait show, but Elvis was her favorite. She dedicated, an almost creepy, room in her house to his memory. She enjoyed baseball and was happy when her eldest son signed-up for Direct TV, so that she could watch the San Diego Padres. Recently, she had developed a love for the theater, traveling to San Diego with her youngest granddaughter to enjoy several shows—the musical All Shook Up was among her favorites.
Her Christian life will forever remain in the lives of all who knew and loved her. She quietly departed this life on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at Midland Memorial Hospital in Midland, Texas from complications of the coronavirus.
She was preceded in death by her parents Felix and Juanita Salazar and her brothers Jimmy and Armando.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her husband Benny, her boys: Joe of Lamesa, Texas, Benny (Tina) of Grand Prairie, Texas, Rick of San Diego, California, Rudy of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Chris (Amanda) of Arlington, Texas; four grandchildren, Amanda (Beto) of Arlington, Texas, Ashton (Alexis) of Arlington Texas, Caleb and Baylee of Arlington, Texas; sisters: Olga Davila of Andrews, Texas, Mary Ramirez of Brownwood, Texas and Anna Hill of Princeton, Texas; and brothers: Rosendo of Lovington, New Mexico and Raymond of Kingsville, Texas.
