Evelyn Newton

    Funeral service for Evelyn JoNell Newton will be held at the Northside Baptist Church Thursday, December 1, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Dee Woolam officiating. Burial will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland, Texas.  
    Arrangements are under the direction of Branon Funeral Home.
    Evelyn passed away at the age of 97 on November 24, 2022. She was born October 1, 1925, in the Pride Community at home to Lillard Thomas and Myrtle Martha Niblett Thomas.  
    She attended school at Pride and graduated from Dawson High School in 1943 during World War II. 
    She wanted to help the war effort, so she moved to California and lived with her sister, Eulas Thomas Damron & husband, Fred Damron and their son, Don Damron. She got a job working on the B-52 Bomber on the fuselage system. 
    Evelyn was an amazing Christian mother, homemaker and worked for many years at the Dotty Dan Clothes factory. She was a long-time member of Northside Baptist Church where she and sister Eulas Damron loved to serve and help with dinners. She loved her family especially the new babies who brought her so much joy.
    Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years J.T. (Red) Newton; her parents, Lillard & Myrtle Thomas; Aunt Eunice Nibblett, Uncle Alvin Nibblett; brothers, L.D. Thomas and Darrell Thomas; sister, Ann Hale; daughters, Pamela Cochran Anthony; grandson, Charles W. Freeman, Jr. and great grandson, Kole Flowers.
    Evelyn is survived by her children; son, Benny Flowers (Connie); daughter, Cassandra (Sandy) Freeman, daughter, Vicki Crawford (Frank); stepsons, James T. Newton, Jr. and William Newton (La San); grandsons, Lonnie Flowers, Darren Anthony, Trinity (Stephanie) Crawford; granddaughters, Synthia Locklar (Curt), Karen Baker (Zeke), Sean Sullivan, Brandi Westfall (Steve), Christina Wright (Brian); numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
