Elizabeth G. Casillas

    Elizabeth G. Casillas, 79, devoted wife and mother, went to be with her Lord on Nov. 8, 2021 at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.
    Graveside services were held  at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, at Dawson County Cemetery, with arrangements handled by Grace Funeral Care of Brownfield.
    Visitation was held from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 11, at Grace Funeral Care.
    Elizabeth was born on Feb. 28, 1942 in Luxora, Ark.  She was married to Dee Casillas for 62 years – three months shy of 63.  Elizabeth and Dee lived their whole life in Lamesa, raising a family of four and owning a small business.
    She will be remembered for her faith and devotion for living for the Lord, the love she had for her family, her love for pets Bailey, Papi and others, and for the indelible legacy she leaves with all who knew her.
    Elizabeth was known for being faithful to pray for people, and was called upon frequently to do so.  She loved to sing and to be sung to.  She was a strong pillar and a great stability for her family and friends.  Elizabeth always guided everyone to Jesus, whom she knew was the answer to everyone’s problems.
    She was preceded in death by her mother, Esperanza Hernandez; sister, Teresa Ledesma; brothers-in-law, Severano Casillas and Esteban Hernandez; and sisters-in-law, Guadalupe Casillas and Guadalupe Hernandez.
    She is survived by her husband, Demetro; daughters Rita (Greg) Burgeson of Brazil; Lela (Steve) Moore of Lamesa, and Amanda Casillas of Rutherfordton, NC.; son, Jamie Casillas Sr. (Melissa) of Big Lake, TX; sisters, Mina Santos of Hammond, IN, Lupe Marquez of Monterey, CA, Connie Garcia of Fresno, CA, and Gloria Little of Squaw Valley, CA; brothers, Avelardo Garza of Kerman, CA; and Jessie Hernandez of Selma, CA; 14 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
