Earl Dean Johnson

    Earl Dean Johnson, 74, of Lamesa passed away March 22, 2021 in Lubbock, Texas surrounded by his family. 
    To celebrate the memory of Dean’s life, the family will gather on Easter Sunday, April 4, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at the Johnson homestead.
    He was born June 7, 1946 in Lubbock, Texas to Clifford Earl and Ruby Opal (Burt) Johnson. Dean married Frieda Sue Davis November 7, 1964 in Lubbock, Texas. They were married 56 years. 
    Dean was proud to donate his body to the Texas Criminal Justice; Southeast Texas Applied Forensic Science Facility in Huntsville. 
    He raised and showed horses for much of his life and worked for Lamesa ISD while owning Burger Wagon and George’s Drive-In. He later worked for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and drove cars for Spike Dykes Ford.
    Dean is survived by his wife, Frieda of Lamesa, TX.; children, Monette Rowden and husband Richard of Forsan, TX., Deana Taylor and husband Anthony of Lamesa, TX., Celeste MCulloch and husband Chris of Lamesa, TX., Ashley Johnson and wife Alisha of Duncan, OK., and Samantha McDonald and husband Stephen of Okinawa, Japan; sister, Rheta Simmons of Tow, TX.; brothers, Ronnie Johnson of Tow, TX. and Terry Johnson and wife Peggy of Lubbock, TX.; eleven grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren.
    He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Loren Johnson; sister-in-law Donna Johnson; and other family members.
    The family suggests memorials to Make-A-Wish at wish.org and the Wounded Warriors project at woundedwarriorproject.org.
