Doyle 'Dean' Shipp

    Doyle “Dean” Shipp, 83, of Hurst, TX passed away Thursday, March 24, 2022, in Stephenville, TX.
    A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 4, 2022, at 12:30 PM at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 US HWY 277 S., Abilene, TX 79606. Interment will follow at Texas State Veterans Cemetery Abilene. A visitation will be held on Monday, April 4, from 11:30 to 12:30 PM prior to the service. 
    Dean was born on May 22, 1938, in Lamesa, TX to the late Miller Shipp and Lucille Cox Shipp. He grew up farming with his family in Dawson County and surrounding areas.  He and his brother were very active in the FFA.  He attended and graduated from Lamesa High School where he was a drum major in the band and served as President of the school council.  He then went on to proudly serve his country in the U.S. Navy. 
    After the Navy, he farmed again with his dad for a short while and then went to work for Eastman Kodak until he retired.  He then went to work for a subsidiary of Kodak called Micro Images. 
    Dean met Kayrn Kutch at lake JB Thomas.  They fell in love and he married Kayrn on November 28, 1968, in Lamesa, TX.  
    Dean loved our Lord and his wife above all else.  He also adored spending time with his two grandchildren and loved and held all family close in his heart.  His interests included working on cars and anything that needed fixing, telling great stories and jokes, and spending time outdoors with his horses and donkey.  
    Dean was preceded in death by his father (Miller Shipp), his mother (Lucille Shipp), and his brother (Miller Gates Shipp).  
    He is survived by his wife Karyn Shipp, Sister (Sue Whitten), daughter (Debby Shipp), granddaughter (Katrina Leann Shipp), and grandson (Joe-Dean Bob Shipp).
