Doris Conrad

    Doris Elsie Conrad, 89, formerly of Lamesa passed away February 19, 2023 in Marble Falls, Texas.
    Doris was born April 8, 1933 in Hill County, Texas to Charlie and Elsie Menix. She attended Loveland and Flower Grove Schools. Doris married Ervin Conrad February 10, 1952 in Sparenberg, Texas. Together they had three sons: John, David and Darrell Conrad.
    Over the years Doris and Ervin lived and farmed in Lynn, Dawson, and Terry Counties until they settled in New Moore to work their family farm. When not working on the farm, Doris enjoyed gardening, canning the produce, and especially socializing with family and friends. Doris’ love for raising and canning her own fruits and vegetables also gave her an opportunity to share her harvest with family and community members.
    Doris was an active member of the Lubbock State School Parent’s Association as a volunteer, board member and donor to support their son Darrell while he was a resident at the school. Her passion for taking care of Darrell brought improvements to his dorm and improved the lives of other residents living there at that time.
    After Doris and Ervin retired from farming, Doris became active with the O’Donnell Museum and Senior Center as a volunteer and donor.
    Actively involved The First Presbyterian Church in Lamesa, Doris served as an elder and in other leadership and volunteer roles. She was always ready to lend a hand where needed and could always be counted on.
    Doris is survived by her children John Conrad and wife Barbara of Granite Shoals; David Conrad and wife Doretta of Round Rock; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
    She is preceded in death by her husband Ervin and son Darrell.
