Denise Mott

Denise Diane Dorman Mott passed from this life on August 16, 2022, at the age of 63.
She was born to Leonard and Bonnie (Veach) Dorman in the backseat of their car outside the hospital in Lamesa, TX on April 6, 1959. “Sis” grew up in O’Donnell, TX and graduated Class of 1977. She was a rodeo queen and cheerleader and kept up with the gossip until the end.
She was a member of Wolfforth United Methodist Church. She spent most of her life serving others. She volunteered for everything she possibly could in her daughters’ lives, her community, the churches she attended, and the jobs she had. Denise was a lifetime member of the Girls Scouts of America, leading two Girl Scout Troops, and serving as the Girl Scout Director in Lamesa for several years. Her biggest passion project was reopening the movie theater in Lamesa as a non-profit organization as part of Troop 43’s Girl Scout Gold Award project.
She had various jobs throughout her life: hairstylist, Frenship Middle School teacher’s aide, but her favorite was as “The Cake Lady.”  She made cakes for birthdays, showers, weddings, and everything in between; she even kept cupcakes and “cake scraps” around her house for anyone who stopped by. She cared for everyone she met and never met a stranger.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Bonnie Dorman. She is survived by her two daughters, Candess Keane and husband Mike of Slaton, and Cayla Napper and her fiancé Mathieu Prichonnet of Lubbock; her daddy, Leonard Dorman of O’Donnell; a sister, Darla Stidham and husband Jackie of O’Donnell; She was “Nene” to many, but especially Laurianne and Manolie Prichonnet, Karlie and Kaycee Swinford, Rhianna and Emersyn Miranda, and Hunter Rose. Denise will be missed by many extended family and friends as well.
The family will have a Celebration of Life service Saturday, September 3rd, 2022, at 2pm at First Baptist Church in O’Donnell, TX with a reception/family visitation to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Friends of Movieland 604 N Austin Ave, Lamesa, TX 79331.
