Demetria Deleon

    Demetria Hernandez Deleon, 97, of Allen, Texas, passed away on January 27, 2022. 
    Burial will be at the Allen Cemetery in Allen. 
    Demetria was born in Del Valle, Texas on January 18, 1925, to Catarino and Juanita Vasquez Hernandez. She married Daniel DeLeon on August 24, 1943, in Lamesa, Texas.  They lived in Lamesa while raising their 11 children, moving to Lubbock in 1970. 
    After Daniel’s retirement from Texas Instruments, Daniel and Demetria moved to Allen in 1988.  She enjoyed cooking, working in the yard with her flowers, making quilts, coloring, and spending time with her grandchildren. Demetria had a tender heart and will be truly missed.
    Demetria was preceded in death by her husband of almost 70 years; daughters Elida DeLeon Wooten and Marie DeLeon Jacoby and sons Andrew DeLeon and Daniel DeLeon, Jr.
    She is survived by daughters, Emily (Albert) Hernandez of Garland, Rosa (Robert) Ybarra of San Antonio, Loy DeLeon of Princeton, and Eva (Jim) Greco of McKinney; sons, Adam DeLeon of California, Jesse DeLeon of Dallas, and John (Julie) DeLeon of Allen; and 24 grandchildren. Demetria is also survived by brother, Pete Hernandez of Lewisville and sisters, Geronima Cervantez, Porfiria (John) Castillo, Eduarda Esparza, Jacinta Rendon, of Lamesa; numerous great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
    A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. The service will also be live streamed at TJMfuneral.com on Demetria’s obituary page by clicking on the link.  After the service, the recorded live stream will be available for viewing at the same link location.  Interment is to follow at Allen Cemetery in Allen, Texas.
    The family will receive friends for a rosary on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. with a visitation following from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
