Bobby Warren

Bobby Warren of Lamesa, Texas passed away early in the morning on Monday, August 10, 2020 at the age of 88.

After several months of declining health, Bobby died peacefully in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

He was born June 26, 1932, in Dawson County, TX, the 8th child of Robert Clinton "Dink" and Jewel Campbell Warren.

He is survived by his partner Cynthia Warren, who tirelessly and selflessly gave of herself so that Bobby could be surrounded by loved ones in his final days.

Bobby is also survived by his children: Holly Warren of Lubbock, Aron Warren of Albuquerque and his partner Francisco Romero. Bobby has two grandchildren who survive him: Christopher Baeza and his wife Sandra of Las Vegas, and Amanda Warren of Lubbock. He is survived by his sweet great-grandchildren: Isaac Baeza, Anthony Campos, and Eduardo Campos.

He is also survived by his younger brother Charles Warren and his wife Duronell. Bobby has a large extended family, and he loved you all fiercely. Please consider this a heartfelt acknowledgement of his love for each of you.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Jack Warren, Lowell Theron "Sonny" Warren, Robert Clinton Warren, and Joyce Dean Warren; and his sisters Lometa "Teet" Weeks, Katherine "Teto" Crumley, and Angeline "Pinkey" Thames.

Bobby lived his life with integrity and joy. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean War from 1953-1955.

Returning home to Dawson County after the war, he followed in the footsteps of his father and older brothers Jack and Sonny, farming around west Dawson and east Gaines Counties. He was an admired farmer and gin owner throughout his life. He nurtured his farm and farming businesses the same way he nurtured his relationships.

We never had to wonder about his love for us, and we never had to guess about the depth of his honesty and fairness. He is an example to us all, and he will be so deeply missed.

Bobby always kept his door open in his home, and every single person who came inside his door was welcomed and treated with kindness and some occasional off-color humor… Bobby Warren style.

He loved playing dominoes and poker, working on his farm, playing Santa Claus, and throwing huge New Year’s Eve parties at the armory, and not necessarily in that order.

There is simply not enough room here for the stories we all share of sweet Bobby, and there are so very many laughs to relive! May each of you hold these memories close to your heart, and please share them as time goes on. I am certain Bobby will not soon be forgotten, and that every one of us loved him in our own unique way.

He told me so many times over the last year, "Please don’t be sad when I’m gone. I’ve had a beautiful and full life, and I’m ready to go." We all know that he struggled this past year, and our sadness and grief of the loss of Bobby is balanced with relief that he is no longer sick and the deepest gratitude that we were blessed to be part of his life.
