Betty Swearingen     

    Betty (Shopbell) Swearingen, 85, of Boerne, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 24, 2025. She was born on June 6, 1939 in Leavenworth, Kansas, to
parents, Beulah and Leo Shopbell.
    Betty obtained her degree in education. She was a beloved teacher and had many creative hobbies such as sewing, calligraphy, painting, crocheting and quilting. More than the creative arts, though, her all-time favorite pastime was playing games with her family.
    Betty is most remembered for her kind and loving spirit, a playful sense of humor and her boundless creativity. Her legacy lives on through her family and the many lives she touched
through her teaching and relationships formed through her business, Storyquilts.com.
    Betty is survived by her four daughters: Stacy Leonard (Scott) of Comfort, Texas; Brandee Brouwer (Greg) of Houston, Texas; Amy Swearingen of Dublin, Ireland; and Rebecca Riopelle (Robert) of Bolton, Massachusetts. She leaves behind eight beloved grandchildren: Meghan Leonard (Courtney), Taylor Leonard, Caitlin Leonard, Jacob Brouwer (Cathy), Nicholas Brouwer, Kylee Brouwer, Tristan Jantz and Lottie Swearingen; and five great-
grandchildren: Grayson, Hartley, Owen, Ella, and Miles Leonard. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Darrell, and her loving husband, Vernon.
