Bennie F. Lybrand

    Funeral services for Bennie F. Lybrand, age 82, of New Harmony, Texas, are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 30, 2020 at New Harmony Baptist Church with Bro. Robbie Caldwell and Dr. Mike Smith officiating. 
    Interment will follow at New Harmony Cemetery under the direction of Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home in Lindale, Texas. 
    Bennie passed away Monday, May 25, 2020 at his home in New Harmony. 
    He was born April 28, 1938 in Lamesa, Texas to the late Horace Haskel and Marie (Hilburn) Lybrand. He attended Texas Western, now the University of Texas at El Paso, from 1956 to 1960 on a football scholarship where he earned a Bachelor of Civil Engineering Degree.
    Bennie has lived in the New Harmony Community for the last 37 years. He was a member of New Harmony Baptist Church where he served as Music Director for 27 years. Bennie enjoyed visiting with people and was said to have never met a stranger. He loved his family dearly and particularly enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren. 
    Bennie worked throughout his life as a Civil Engineer and retired after 35 years of service with the Brannon Corporation in Tyler, Texas. 
    He is preceded in death by his brother, Donald Robert Lybrand. 
    Bennie is survived by his wife of 61 years, Carole Lybrand of New Harmony, Texas; sons, Brian Keith Lybrand and wife, Lydia of Whitehouse, Texas, Phillip Roland Lybrand and wife, Jan of Trinity, Texas; grandchildren, Aaron Lybrand and wife Amie of Kingwood, Texas, Joshua Lybrand and wife, Taylor of Tyler, Texas, Kaley Dean and husband, Matthew of Jacksonville, North Carolina, Kelsey Gonzales and husband, J.W. of Hudson, Texas, Kevin Lybrand and wife, Betsy of Jacksonville, Texas; great grandchildren, Abbie, Ava, Addison, Case, and Alivia Lybrand, John, Nathan, and Abigail Dean. 
    Serving as pallbearers will be, Gary Gilmore, Steve Bradley, Robert Kelly, Wayne Spier, John Cundieff, and Dennis Aaron. Honorary pallbearers will be John Bristow and Dennis Crandell. 
    Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service Saturday. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that contributions be made to the Jacksonville College General Fund, 105 BJ Albritton Dr., Jacksonville, Texas 75766
