Aurora Lucero

    Mass of Christian Burial for Aurora Garza Lucero, 90, of Lubbock, formerly of Lamesa will be held Monday, May 2, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Branon Funeral Home Chapel with Father Chacko Thadathil officiating. 
    Interment will follow to Dawson County Cemetery under the direction of Branon Funeral Home. 
    Rosary will be prayed Sunday, May 1, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. at Branon Funeral Home Chapel. 
    Aurora passed away Thursday, April 28, 2022 in Lubbock, Texas. 
    She was born October 4, 1931 in Raymondville, TX. to Gaudalupe Garza and Sofia Lopez Garza. Aurora married Julian Lucero September 24, 1950 in Lasara; they were married 63 years. 
Aurora was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church and worked 12 ½ years as a sales clerk for Wal Mart.
    Those left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Debbie Lynn Lucero Scott of Columbia, SC, and Edna Leal and husband, Arthur of Arlington ; her six sons, Retired Master Sgt. Willis Joe Lucero and wife Yolanda of Harvest, AL., Jerry Lee Lucero and wife Sylvia of Seminole, Retired Staff Sgt. John Edward Lucero and wife Judy of Jaffrey, NH., David Allen Lucero of Fort Stockton, Julian Albert Lucero and Patsy Cantu of Lubbock, Eric Wayne Lucero and wife Sabrina Cantu Lucero of Lubbock; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
    Aurora is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Eulogio Garza, Rogerio Garza, and Alejandro Garza; and sisters, Carolina Garza Morales, Elvira Garza Tamez, and Alicia Garza Tamez.
