Arlie Williams

    Funeral services for Arlie Ray Williams, 90, of Lamesa, will be held Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church gym with Pastor Jim Medley officiating. Interment will follow to Dawson County Cemetery under the direction of Branon Funeral Home. 
    Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 4, 2023 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Branon Funeral Home.
    Arlie Ray Williams departed his earthly life on Saturday, April 1, 2023, in Lamesa, TX. 
    He was born January 26, 1933 south of Sparenberg, Dawson County to Burnie and Hester Myrtle (Wright) Williams. He graduated from Lamesa High School in 1950. He married Mollie Sue Goodson on June 19, 1954. They had two daughters, Arla Jeffcoat and Melinda Cannon. 
    Arlie served in the United States Air Force from 1952-1956. He was stationed at San Antonio, Tx., Cheyenne, Wyoming, Pusan, South Korea and Midwest City, Oklahoma. Arlie was very patriotic and gladly served his country in the Air Force for 4 years. After his honorable discharge he returned to Dawson County to farm and ranch. 
    Arlie began his walk with the Lord at age 9 at Five Mile Baptist Church, south of Lamesa. He also faithfully attended First Baptist Church in Midwest City, Oklahoma, Midway Baptist Church, east of Lamesa, and First Baptist Church in Lamesa, Texas. He served as an ordained deacon at Midway Baptist Church and First Baptist Church in Lamesa. He served on many committees and also taught Sunday School classes to many young people as well as adult men. Arlie enjoyed trap shooting and fishing.
     Arlie is survived by his Wife Mollie of Lamesa; daughter Arla Jeffcoat of Lamesa; four granddaughters, Amanda Hailey and husband Van of Lamesa, Kaci Porterfield and husband Jay of Lamesa, Lindsey Dunsworth and husband Orvil of Perryton and Hannah Davis and husband Phillip of Hobbs, N.M.; and 13 great grandchildren.
    Arlie is preceded in death by his parents; daughter Melinda Cannon; three granddaughters, Kembra Cannon, Kayla Cannon and Macey Cannon; two brothers, Durard Williams and Burnie Leon Williams; and son-in-law, Eddie Jeffcoat.
