Annie May (Henley) Burt

    Annie May (Henley) Burt stepped from this world into Heaven August 18, 2023.  There was no funeral, as she dedicated her body to science in memory of her granddaughter Disa Payson of Lamesa, Tx.  The family will honor Annie’s life with a memorial at a later date. 
    She was preceded in death by her parents, John B. and J. Hester Henley of Lamesa; husband, Richard (Dick) Burt; brothers John B. Henley, Jr. of El Paso, Tx. and Jimmie T. Henley of Louisville, Ky.; sister Sarah Lou Henley of Lamesa, Tx.; and granddaughter Disa Payson of Lamesa, Tx.
    Annie May was born on a farm in Scurry County, Texas on March 30, 1933.  She lived most of her early life in Lamesa, Texas graduating from Lamesa High School in 1950. She graduated from Hardin Simmons University.  She married Richard Burt (Dick) and had four children. 
    Annie loved Jesus, her family, and music. She enjoyed helping others, encouraging, and was a life-time learner.  She played piano, sewed, enjoyed crafts and playing games. While their older daughter was at TTU, Annie and Dick housed college students who needed an in-between place to stay.  As to business, she helped run Dorian Systems in Lubbock, Texas. She and her husband recorded live performances at Texas Tech University, TTU Band Camp, area band, choral, & orchestral concerts, as well as The Lubbock Symphony and The Lubbock Civic Choral. After moving to Garland, Texas, she worked in the music department of First Baptist Church of Garland. Her deeds reflected her spirit, as she often willingly did more than required. She loved singing in her church choir and teaching children. She will ever be remembered for her kindnesses, loving spirit, and how she blessed many whose path she crossed. 
    Annie May is survived by her son, Keith Burt of Lubbock; daughter, Joy Payson and husband Steven of Lamesa, Tx; son, Timothy Burt and wife Shirley of Lubbock, Tx.; daughter, Sarah and husband John Kelly of Phoenix, Az.; former daughter-in-law & friend, Donna Burt of Lubbock, Tx; granddaughter, Kirstin Tipps and husband Chad of Guam; grandson, Erik Payson of Lamesa, Tx; grandson, Ryan Burt and wife Beth of Lubbock, Tx; granddaughter, Shannon Kelly of Katy; grandson, Declan Kelly of Oklahoma; granddaughter, Meghan Kelly of Arizona; and three great grandchildren: Ella May, LillyAnn, and Jonathan Tipps of Guam. 
    Memorials may be made to the Music Ministry or Widows Ministry of First Baptist Garland, Garland, Texas as these were dear to her.
