Anita Vasquez

    A Catholic funeral mass of Christian burial was celebrated for Anita Reyes Vasquez, age 83, of Lamesa, TX., at 10:00 a.m., on Monday, April 24, 2023, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church with celebrant Father Chacko Thadathil officiating. 
    Burial committal will followed to the Dawson County Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home. 
    Viewing and visitation were held at Gonzales Funeral Home on Saturday April 22, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., and Sunday, April 23, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m., with a 7:00 p.m. Rosary Prayer service. 
    Anita passed away surrounded by her loving family on Monday, April 17, 2023, at her home in Lamesa, Texas. 
    She was born May 28, 1939, in Cavesas, Texas. Anita married Simon T. Vasquez on October 5, 1952, in Runge, Texas.
    Anita was preceded in death by her husband, Simon T. Vasquez; her infant children, Roselinda, twins, Cindy and Sandy; grand-daughter, Kathy Vasquez Flores; and grandson, Joe Vasquez, Jr.; her parents, Lorenzo and Virginia Reyes; sisters, Maria Molina, Eva Ramirez, and Oralia Garcia; brother, Guillermo Reyes.
    Anita was a member of the Catholic Church, where she served as a Crusillista. She loved spending time with family and friends. Anita enjoyed playing Bingo, cards, sitting outside, listening to music, and going out to eat. Anita enjoyed spending precious time with her beloved grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
    Anita is survived by her beloved family, her sons, Joe R. Vasquez (Candy), Carlos Vasquez (Cruz), all of Midland, Texas, Simon Vasquez, Jr. (Irene) of Ballinger, Texas, and Arturo Vasquez of Lamesa, Texas; her daughters, Rosemary Rodriquez (Jesse) of Midland, Texas, Diana Vasquez, and Joann Vasquez, both of Lamesa, Texas, and Rachel Vasquez of Big Spring, Texas; her brothers-in-law, Sele Vasquez, David Vasquez (Gloria); and her sister-in-law, Rebecca Romero (Jimmy); numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; several relatives and friends.
