Alfredo 'Shorty' Cuellar

Alfredo (Shorty) Cuellar, of Lubbock was born on October 19, 1948 in Lamesa, TX., to Pablo Cuellar Sr. and Rosa Aguirre Cuellar.   He went home to be with the Lord on October 2, 2021.
Celebration of his life services were held on Friday Oct. 8, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the House of Angels Funeral Home Chapel, Lubbock, Texas  Shorty was laid to rest at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park in Woodrow, Texas.
Shorty, aka Freddy, last resided in Lubbock but lived many years in Lamesa in different seasons of his life.  When in Lamesa, he worked alongside his brother, the late Juan (Johnny) Cuellar.  He loved to farm and strip cotton.  Shorty was employed for a time by Jerry Swafford, who was more than an employer but a long-time friend.  He also worked at times for Don Chiles, Glenn Hogg and Sam Parham.
Shorty, Johnny and their sister Aurora Vela were like the three musketeers!  Never a dull moment, many laughs and lots of love when they were together.  When apart, they spent countless hours talking on the phone checking on one another.  Also made sure they were all updated with the latest....lol  Shorty and Johnny enjoyed many breakfast meals & coffee at sister’s (Rhoda’s) house.  Good Ole Lamesa!
He is survived by his brother Pablo Cuellar Jr. of Lubbock; sisters, Alicia Reyna of Lubbock, Elena Cruz of Big Spring and Aurora Vela of Lamesa.  His love and friendship will be missed by many nephews and nieces, who called him “Shorty-boots.”  He was very special and will always be loved.
Alfredo was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Juan Cuellar, Luis Cuellar and Mario Cuellar; his sisters, Beatrice Reyna and Angelita (Hela) Lozano. May he rest in peace.
