Alberto L. Gurrola, Sr.

    Funeral services for Alberto L. Gurrola, Sr., age 80, of Lamesa will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at Gonzales Funeral Home Chapel with brother Trinidad Sanchez officiating. 
    Burial committal will follow to the Dawson County Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home.
    Viewing will be held on Monday, February 20, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday, February 21. 2023 from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.
    Alberto passed away surrounded by his family on Saturday, February 18, 2023, in Lamesa, TX. 
    He was born on October 2, 1942, in Cuidad Juarez, Mexico.
    Alberto was preceded in death by his wife, Eva Gurrola; his parents, Feliciano Gurrola and Margarita Lopez.
    Alberto was a retired farmer. He really loved spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed ice cream from Dairy Queen, loved telling his stories about how he came to the United States, “ingreso de Mexico en el ano 1979.” Alberto loved Cardi B, “le gustava juntar and vender fierro.” Alberto loved his grandchildren. “Era ejemplo vivente; sus hijos y hijas estavan bien orgulloso de el.”
    Alberto is survived by his children, Evangelina Gurrola Padilla and husband, Adrian Padilla of Lubbock, TX., Hector Gurrola and wife Kelcie Gurrola of Lamesa, TX., Alberto Gurrola, Jr. and wife Esmeralda Gurrola of Lamesa, TX., Alma Gurrola and husband Pedro Herrera of Houston, TX., Susanna Vasquez and husband, Billy Vasquez of Lamesa, TX., Celilia Hamilton and husband Tim Hamilton of San Antonio, TX; his sister Lupe Gurrola Castillo of Mexico; 25 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
    Honoring Alberto L. Gurrola as his pallbearers are, Jacob Fernandez, Javier Ornelas, Alex Gurrola, Billy Vasquez, Jr., Brandon Gurrola, Rebbecca Gurrola-Avant.
