Abel Guzman

    Catholic funeral graveside services for Abel Guzman, age 78, of Lamesa, TX. will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at the Dawson County Cemetery with Father Chacko Thadathil officiating.  
    Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home. Due to area Covid-19 situations we continue with public safety. For the safety of the family and our community, face masks are required at the funeral home and cemetery along with social distancing. 
    Visitation and viewing will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at Gonzales Funeral Home with a Rosary prayer service staring at 7:00 p.m. Viewing and visitation on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., following with a funeral procession to the cemetery.
    Abel passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 in Lubbock, TX. 
    He was born on October 25, 1942 in Weslaco, TX.  Abel married Petra Garcia on August 1, 1970 in Brownfield, TX. 
    He was preceded in death by father, Abelino Guzman and his mother, Olivia Sosa Guzman; his brother, Jose H. Guzman.
    Abel worked for Britt Trucking for many years, then went to work for the Lamesa ISD for several years until his retirement. He was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Lamesa.  Abel loved spending time with his family. 
    Abel is survived by his wife, Petra Garcia Guzman of Lamesa, TX.; his two sons, Abel Juan Guzman, and Raul Guzman, both of Lamesa, TX.; his grandsons, Cyrus Guzman, and Abel Juan Guzman, both of Lamesa, TX.; his grand-daughters, Selena Cortez of San Angelo, TX., Angel Guzman, Samantha Rodriguez, and Dezi Molina, all of Lamesa, TX.; his great-grandsons, Lorenzo Xavier Cortez of San Angelo, TX.; his great-grand-daughters, Aurora D. Cortez of San Angelo, TX., Kenlee Magie Rodriguez, and Kaitlynn Rae Rodriguez, both of Lamesa, TX.; numerous relatives and friends.
