SEMINOLE – The Gaines County Airport will soon be ringed by a chain link security fence, thanks to $90,000 in new funding from a Texas Transportation Commission grant. The grant is part of some $60 million in earmarks approved by the state legislature for the Texas Department of Transportation as part of its Aviation Facilities Grant Program. In 2019, County Commissioners voted to approve the county’s 10% contribution to the 90/10 arrangement, and Murphree met with TxDOT officials two weeks ago to secure the deal.
