The Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) Smith Unit here again will be conducting a pre-service academy on Dec. 14 for anyone interested in becoming a correctional officer, maintenance supervisor or food service manager. TDCJ has extended the criteria for correctional officer pre-employment test exemption and allows applicants to interview virtually or via telephone.
