Lamesa City Council members on Tuesday declared Gloria Villalobos Rodriguez elected to the vacant District 3 seat on the council. The action came after council members canceled a special election scheduled for Feb. 27 to fill that seat. Rodriguez was the only candidate to file for that position. She will finish out Luciano Reyes’ unexpired term which ends in May 2023. Reyes, a first-time council member elected to office last May, died Oct. 31.
