Lamesa’s economic development officials on Monday will consider throwing their support behind an effort to get a highway route through Lamesa designated as a future extension of Interstate 27. That is one of the items on the agenda for a joint meeting of the directors of the Lamesa Economic Development Corporation (LEDC) and Lamesa Economic Alliance Project (LEAP). The meeting is set for 5:30 p.m. Monday in the Presidents Room of the Lamesa Area Chamber of Commerce, 123 Main Ave. Interstate 27 currently runs only 124 miles from Amarillo to Lubbock.
