USDA’s March Prospective Plantings Report indicates U.S. producers intend to plant 13.8 million acres of cotton in 2019-2020, 2.3 percent less from the previous year. Upland area is projected to be 13.5 million acres, 2.3 percent less than 2018-2019 while extra-long staple (ELS) area is projected at 255,000 acres, a 2.4 percent increase.
