Halvey Energy of Midland recently obtained a permit from the Texas Railroad Commission for a new oil drilling operation about six miles southwest of Lamesa. The Zelpha No. 1 will be a vertical drilling operation and is scheduled for a total depth of 8,800 feet. The drilling site is about a half-mile north of FM 2051 and a mile west of State Highway 349.
