Lamesa City Council members spent almost an hour in a closed executive session Tuesday before returning to open session to appoint two new members to the Lamesa Economic Alliance Project (LEAP) board of directors.West Texas Opportunities employee Brian Rodriguez was appointed to one of the positions on a unanimous 6-0 vote.Claire Morris, wife of council member Doug Morris, was appointed to the other position on a separate 4-2 vote.Both are for two-year terms.The issue went more smoothly than last month when the mayor and two council members opposed appointing a council member’s spouse to a municipal board.At that time none ...
