When students from Lamesa High School Class of 2020 were heading toward graduation, they had to forgo the usual festivities seniors enjoy in their final months of the school year. There was no prom and no senior breakfast, and the traditional May graduation ceremony was pushed back until June. Everything changed when COVID-19 hit Dawson County 11 months ago. School functions got canceled, and last year’s graduation came with attendance and social distance restrictions.
