When students return to campus in August, Lamesa High School will have a new principal at the helm.Israel Carrera has been hired as the new principal. He will fill the position which has been held on an interim basis by Jerry Birdson after former Principal David Ritchey was hired as the school district’s new superintendent earlier this year.Carrera currently is the chief operating officer in the San Felipe Del Rio Consolidated Independent School District.
