Over the past few weeks, several businesses in Lamesa have reported receiving counterfeit cash – mostly $50 bills but also at least one $20. Lamesa Police Chief Dale Alwan said the number of counterfeit bills being reported is not alarming but part of what appears to be a normal cycle. “We’ll go for a while without any and then it will pick up again,” Alwan told the Press-Reporter.
