STANTON – An accidental fire on the south side of Stanton led to an enormous explosion that could be felt for miles last week. Martin County volunteer Fire Fighters werew dispatched to the 200 block of S. St. Joseph where they encountered a single family structure engulfed in flames. The Stanton Police Department along with the assistance of a Fire Investigator that was brought in, determined that the fire started as a result of an improperly used extension cord. “The fire was an accidental fire which did result in the loss of the structure,” stated Stanton Chief of Police Joe Bob Morales.
