Medical Arts Hospital in Lamesa could be receiving some of the $5 million in federal funding being distributed to rural hospitals by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC), according to a news release sent out by the Texas governor’s office this past week.But so far it’s not known how much the hospital will receive or when it will be coming.“I’ve heard there are more funds that are reaching us, but I don’t know how much,” said Jo Beth Smith, the hospital’s chief financial officer.Chief Executive Officer Letha Stokes said the hospital applied for the funding a year ago.
