Firefighters can’t save house

Fighting not only the flames but the effects of wind and scorching heat, local firefighters couldn’t keep a blaze from taking a house to the ground at the edge of Lamesa Tuesday afternoon. It was pretty well a lost cause from the start, as flames were erupting from the house and sweeping through an attached carport when firefighters arrived. The fire in the 2000 block of N.
