An electrical power outage this past Saturday morning eventually affected more than 1,900 customers of Oncor in Lamesa. High winds were expected as the cause for the outage, Kristy Tyra, area manager for Oncor, told the Press-Reporter. Sustained wind speeds were reported in the mid to upper 30s with wind gusts up to 50 miles per hour about the time of the outage, according to the West Texas Mesonet website’s recording station in Lamesa for Texas Tech University.
