Teachers and other employees at the Dawson school district in Welch soon will be seeing signficant pay increases. Pay raises were approved by the Dawson school board this past Monday in line with increased funding provided for that purpose earlier this year by the Texas legislature. Superintendent Layne Sheets said the new salary scale adopted by the board will provide all certified teachers in the district with an 11-percent pay increase. That boosts the salary for beginning teachers to $39,380 annually, while teachers at the top end of the pay scale will receive $57,310.
