Dawson County reached a COVID-19 milestone late this past week, as the total number of confirmed cases among local residents topped the 2,000 mark.An update issued Friday evening by Zach Holbrooks, executive director of the South Plains Public Health District, puts the total Dawson County case count at 2,008 since the first local case was reported almost a year and a half ago.Forty-seven new cases were reported here in the past week, down from 71 new cases the previous week.The number of active cases being reported here by the health district also has dropped, from 113 a week ago to ...
